Working in Canada, While My Husband Studies as a Foreign Stu

Postby taib1983 on Thu Mar 03, 2011 4:00 am

Hi,

My husband is going to study in Canada by study permit. So, could you, please, answer a few important questions?

1) If my husband will get a study permit, does this give any alleviation for me, as his spouse to get the visa too? What type of visa will it be?

2) By arriving to Canada, can I immediately start applying to TWP? even if I will have to apply to CIC abroad, lets suppose we accept this option. Approximately, how much time can it take to issue my TWP?

3) Can my husband work part time On Campus from the beginning of study period? or he has to wait 6 months?

This forum is really helpful and great! Thank you so much in advance!

Spouses of foreign students are generally eligible for open work permits for the same duration as the study permits. An application for such may be submitted along with the study permit application at a visa office, inland to a Case Processing Centre, or at a port of entry depending on the nationality of the candidate. In many cases, full time foreign students are eligible to work part-time on or off campus without a work permit.
