Working in Canada for a US company

Postby maynard on Thu Jun 09, 2011 11:28 am

The company I work for is going up to Canada to work for a sister company owned by a US corporation.
What would I need to do to go up and work for approximately one year.
What are the tax issues involved in this type of arrangement.
I will be paid by the US company I work for.
Do I have to pay US and Canadian taxes.

You would need a work permit to work for the Canadian division; the specific requirements of such could be determined only by a closer evaluation of the details of your case. Taxation issues should be referred to a specialist in that field, as there are numerous complexities that must be assessed.
