Working in Canada

Postby Ruair on Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:55 am

Hello,

I am an American and just about graduated from college with an Animation degree. Most animation studios seem to be located in Canada, and all the applications require that international applicants be eligible to work in Canada. How do I go about getting a work permit if I've technically not been offered a job, but just applying for them on a frequent basis? Is it even possible? Thanks,
Ruair

If you wish to be eligible for a position prior to having the job offer, then you need to determine eligibility for an open work permit through something like a youth program (see swap.ca for example). However, work permits otherwise require that the employment offer exists in order to be able to apply.
