Working in Canada

Postby netjagan on Sat Apr 24, 2010 2:21 pm

Hi All,

This is Jagan & im a Indian nationality currently working in Singapore. I'm an IT professional with Masters and having 5 years of experience. I like to move around places for work and Canada attracted me somehow (previously i have work exp in UK and have visited other european & asian countries for business & leisure).

I checked out the Skilled program but i really dont want to completely immigrate to canada but want to work up there temporarily. So i would like to know how can i market my CV to the canadian employers to get permit.

Any advice to help me to plan.

Cheers, Jagan

hi Jagan:

You can market your CV to Canadian employers through sites such as Workopolis.com and Monster.com. There are also paid services here in Canada that can do jobs searches for you, which is probably your best bet as it is very difficult to find work when you are out of country.

When you consider any agency, be careful of the ones that offer a guarantee of employment. You can email me if you want more information.

with regards,

Andrew

It will depend on how your credentials are accepted here in Canada. There has been a net increase in jobs in the financial sector in the last year. It's a growing field, so your chances will be better. It is also competitive, so you will be competing with Canadian candidates, and employers have to hire them first.

I cannot advise on visa issues.
