I worked from June 2006 until March 2010 in Canada based on an LMO work permit. I left the country for private reasons. My work permit shows valid until September 2012.
Question: Is my work permit still valid even if I left the country for a year? My old employer would like to get me back in the company and we are not sure if the permit is still valid.

Assuming that the same employer wants you back in the same position at the same location, you can resume work on the basis of the existing work permit for whatever duration it remains valid. This assumes that the employer did not cancel the LMO on which it is based.
