Work Permit & Spouse

Postby pauloc37 on Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:57 am

I am from Ireland and have been offered a job in Burlington as a Land Surveyor. Should I be successful in my work permit application I intend to travel over on my own and my wife and two year old will follow three months later.
What is the best and safest way to submit a TWP application in order for them to be accepted at point of entry?I have nightmares about them being turned away.Any advice would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Are you referring to submission of your temporary work permit application or of their temporary resident visa applications? Or, does your wife intend to seek a work permit as well?

Hi David,

I'm referring to my temporary work permit application and how they are covered on it.The actual filling out of the form is confusing me.Do I say they are coming with me and do I include them on my application?I just have visions of them being turned away and am in fear of that massively.
My wife doesn't intend to work while in Canada and my daughter will be 2 when hopefully we get there. We're from Ireland so I don't believe we need a Temporary Resident Visa.We intend then to apply for Permanent Residency once in Canada.
The reason we're applying for a temporary work permit is due to the need for my employer to get me started on a large project. We decided it would be the quicker route.

Hope that clarifies the situation somewhat.
