work permit question for primary teacher

Hello,

I've been trying to track down an answer to this question all over! I am a certified teacher from the US, so the Ontario College of Teachers has no problem recognizing my credentials. However, in order to apply for the college in the first place, I must have a job offer. In order to get a job offer in most cases, I need a work permit. How does one get a work permit without a job offer???

I asked a woman at the college about this, and she mentioned that she'd heard something about an open-ended work permit. Is this something that exists? Is there any kind of work permit that I could apply for that would give me the eligibility to apply for Ontario teaching positions?

Thank you for any help anyone can provide!!!

Open work permits are issued in very limited circumstances; the information provided does not suggest this is applicable in your case. You must otherwise have a job offer in order to seek a work permit; unfortunately, there are many Canadian employers who are not aware of the process.
