I am a US Citizen married to a Canadian citizen. We are living in Alberta Canada. I am here as a tourist have not overstayed my initial approved stay. Can I apply for a temporary work permit from inside Canada, understanding that I need to find an employer who will apply for a Labour Market Opinion and give me their positive Labour Market Opinion as well as a job offer in writing. Can we do this before we apply for permanent residency. I appreciate hearing from anyone who could give us feedback on this.
You may apply for a LMO and seek a work permit while you are a temporary resident of Canada. However, as a general rule, new work permit applications must be submitted outside Canada or, in some cases, at a Canadian port of entry.
