She work as Graphic Designer for years, but her tittle actually is "Theatrical Designer" does she fit into the CCFTA too ??

Hey Man,

She can apply for her work permit at airport immigration department.I would suggest you to send her your work permit copy and tell her to apply right away there. In this case she will get open work permit and can work anywhere.

spoonman,
I guess that David could give you more detail, but here are my 2 cents:
If you came to Canada as a Skilled Worker (e.g. your NOC is listed here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/itw-jobs.html) your wife could accompany you in Canada as a visitor (she will get a visitor visa from the Embassy) and, as alirazvi said, she could apply for an open work permit either at the port of entry or once she is in Canada. Applying at the port of entry is very fast and she will get the work permit instantly, but she has to have all required documents and CAD 150 (check for the current price!) to pay for it; in case she decides to apply later it will take about 50+ days before she gets the work permit.

WORK PERMIT - SPOUSAL PROGRAM (CIC)

Postby mdcuneta on Fri Apr 13, 2007 12:12 am

Hello Everyone!

Greetings to all!
I would like to clarify on some things regarding the Spousal Program by CIC in connection with getting working permit/visa. It says there that a spouse(husband/wife) may qualify for an "OPEN" work permit provided that the principal applicant's job qualifies on the NOC matrix category O,A or B. If this is true, my question is...is it possible for the spouse to apply for a work permit together with the principal applicant at the Canadian visa office here in Manila Philippines so that we can both fly to Canada? Or the spouse should wait 'til his/her spouse with working permit is settled in Canada before the other one can apply for the OPEN work permit under the Spousal Program of CIC? Hope you could enlighten us on this subject, my many thanks to all.

Rgds,
Marco

mdcuneta,
As far as I know your wife has to apply for visitor's visa in Manila. She could apply for a work permit once you are in Canada as described above.
