I read few of the posts and your reply to them. I am a here in Canada on Work Permit from last one year and my work permit ends in Jan'2011. I got an extension proposal from my employer and would like to understand the process of work permit extension and spousal visitor Visa/record extension.
In one of the post i read that you mentioned "VISA: visa is just a permission to enter Canada, and it does not affect your status here. If your work permit is valid, and visa expired nothing will happen, but if you leave country with expired visa and later want to re-enter, you will have to apply for a new visa at your home country".
I understand this clearly and shall follow this process for me. Thanks for that.

I have an question for my wife visitor visa/record extension. She is staying alongwith me since last one year and she also has visitor visa/record till Jan2011. She also has open work permit till Jan2011.
I would like to understand what would be the process for her to extend the visitor Visa/record or do we need to apply for extension of open work permit. Does the open work permit suffice for her stay legally in Canada without having visitor visa or visitor record. Please guide.

In any application for extension or change of terms of your work permit, you would have the opportunity to include your spouse and may accordingly seek extension or change of terms of her work permit. Either would allow her to remain, but any effort to depart and re-enter may require a new entry visa.
