I applied an extension of my work permit a month ago. My current work permt will expire soon and I am not expecting a renewal before the expiration date.

I have been working in Canada for almost 5yrs and I am with my two school-aged kids. They go to a public school under my work permit. I understand that I could maintain my status after an expiration date while waiting for an extension. Does that mean that I and my kids's OHIP coverage is maintained and there isn't any problem for kid's school?
