Work Permit Extension.

Postby rodrigofmacedo on Mon Sep 10, 2007 2:00 pm

Hi,

I applied for an extension of my work permit, 2 months ago (July 9), and I didn't get any feedback from the CIC. My visa expires October 17, more than 3 months after my application. Does anyone knows how much it takes to get the feedback?

Rodrigo.

Current delays are in excess of 50 days. Did you confirm delivery of your application to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville (i.e., through tracking of the package)? Given that you are approaching 90 days, it may be worth a writtent inquiry to that office.

Hi David,

Thanks for the answer.

As per the CIC website, the current processing times are 75 days, for those that applied on June 23.

Yes, the delivery of my application was confirmed by the Canada Post on July 9.

My major concern is the eventuality of my actual visa expires before the decision of the CIC. In this case, shall I leave the country? Can I touch base with the office by phone?

Thanks in advance.

The Regulations allows for the maintenance of your status in Canada while an extension case is pending. You are not required to leave Canada. If you do leave Canada, these provisions no longer apply.
