Work Permit/Common-Law Questions

Postby wtei on Thu Jan 25, 2007 9:46 pm

Hello,

I finished university last year and I have a work permit that I got after I graduated and got a job. It will expire in July 2007. I have a Canadian girlfriend, and we are common-law since we have been living together for more than 2 years now.

I want to apply for a permanent residence using the forms found at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/spouse.html since we are both in Canada.

1. Are those documents enough for the residency application?

2. What is the closest place to Toronto that I could send these documents?

3. How long would it take for it to be processed?

4. If it takes more then day my Work Permit expires, what should I do in regards to my work? Can I keep working, or do I have to apply for a new work permit?

I appreciate all your help, and suggestions about the application forms that I'm filling out.

Cheers,
WteI
