Work Permit applying for PR

Postby abcd on Mon Dec 25, 2006 5:23 pm

Hi there!
I am currently on Work Permit for one year which expires on Nov 2, 2007.
My husband is in India and he is applying for a Spouse visa with an open work permit. I already have an work experience of 5 years in India.
I have checked my points and I score 86 so I would be the principal applicant. My company is ready to renew my Work Permit.
My questions:
1. Should I apply for both of us after he comes here for PR?
2. Can I apply for both of us irrespective of whether he is in canada?
3. I have read people applying at Buffalo. Is it that any Temporary Resident can apply only at Buffalo? Please throw some light on this.

Can you please help me?

You can apply for PR status irrespective of the location of your spouse. However, if your spouse is required at a selection interview, this could become an issue.

A temporary resident of Canada is eligible to use the Buffalo office in addition to the visa office(s) in the jurisdiction of citizenship/permanent-residence.

Hi David,

I have the same quetsion as that of andriy.lviv, is there a wait time on Work Permit befor eonce can apply for PR ?

also, in my case, I had PR, but did not enter cancda for 10 yrs after landing as a result it was cancelled. Will that have any impact on if I reapply for PR. Is the processing time less when applied from within Canada
