Hi,
I am an Australian Citizen and possess an Australian Passport. I am considering applying for a WHP Visa.
My wife is a citizen of Moldova and possesses a Moldovan Passport. She is not an Australian Citizen.
If I am able to obtain a WHP Visa for Canada, is my wife able to accompany me to Canada as a regular visitor / non-worker based on the fact that she is my wife and I am traveling to Canada utilizing my WHP Visa?
I found some information at http://www.whpcanada.org.au/faq_lodging.shtml where it says;
"On arrival at the Canadian port of entry, a person accompanying their spouse or common-law partner or parent who holds the WHP work permit may ask to be granted admission to Canada for a duration coinciding with their spouse or common-law partner or parent's WHP work permit but the Port of Entry Officer has the discretion to grant this or not. The spouse must provide a copy of the marriage certificate"
But I wasn't sure if this was assuming that the WHP work permit holder's partner was an Australian Passport Holder or if it refereed to anybody who is the partner of a WHP Work Permit Visa Holder.
I tried to search for relevant Canadian legislation on the Internet but was unable to find anything specific.
Thanks and Kind Regards,
Andrew
