What falls under NAFTA and the Pilot Project?

Postby awse on Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:43 pm

I'm a System and Network Administrator -- basically I'm considered IT. However, looking at the job descriptions on the Pilot Project and NAFTA tables, I'm confused about whether or not I would be applicable.

For example, NAFTA lists Computer Systems Analyst. I'm sure I fit the terms of this title in a broad sense, but what checks are put into place for this? As for the Pilot Project, I'm an IT worker, but not a software developer so am I excluded from this?

So does anyone know where I can find the specifics for job titles or should I just contact the immigration office?

Thanks!

Without knowing the details of your occupational responsibilities and the details of your academic qualifications, it is difficult to know if you meet the requirements of the occupations that you refer to.

Generally, a System and Network Administrator would not be considered to be a Systems Analyst as defined under NAFTA, or as one of the information technology workers defined in that program. In some cases, however, aspects of the responsibilities of such an individual may be sufficient to present a suitable case under one of these categories.

The requirements of the relevant IT workers are described in this site. The definition of a Systems Analyst would be found in the National Occupational Classification published by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
