What are the chances of getting a positive LMO?

Hi,

My boyfriend is currently over here from the UK on a working holiday visa, and has found a job in his field of mechanical engineering. He's now in the process of applying for a work permit.

I was just wondering how stringent service canada is on giving out positive lmo's? He has a bachelor and masters degree, and is registered with the qualifying body. As well, his profession is listed on a regional (Ontario) list for occupations under pressure. Does this make a difference? Is there anything specific he should be telling his employer to do or not to do?

Any advice would be extremely helpful! Thanks!

In a case like this, the local labour market conditions will always determine the stringency with which Service Canada decides a case of an LMO. If employers in a given region are unable to successfully recruit Canadians with suitable qualifications, and if the applicant possesses such qualifications, then a reasonable chance of success exists. The employer would bear the responsibility of supplying sufficient evidence that a sufficient recruiting effort had been conducted and that it was unsuccessful.
