visa while applying for skilled worker visa

Discussion of issues concerning temporary employment in Canada, or temporary entry for business activities.

visa while applying for skilled worker visa

Postby boosted on Tue Jan 04, 2011 3:24 pm

I was thinking about applying for the Quebec federal skilled worker (qsw) visa. I was thinking about going to Canada on a visiting visa while the skilled worker visa is being processed. I just have a couple of questions

1. If the QSW visa process is started and the person than goes to canada on a visiting visa, what would work status be while the QSW is being processed (Will the person on the visiting visa be eligible to work)?

2. If on a visiting visa can one apply for jobs or even acquire a job and have the employer sponsor for a visa so work can be started and income starts coming in (How likely is a potential employer to do this)?

Thanks in advance for the help

The submission of the skilled worker application would have no bearing on your eligibility to work in Canada; no work permit is conferred as a result of such. If a job offer is obtained while a PR application is pending, you may seek a work permit under the normal provisions, which may include a Labour Market Opinion Confirmation and CAQ for a position in the province of Quebec.
