Visa Questions

Postby brandon on Thu Nov 26, 2009 6:59 pm

Hello David,

Thank you for providing a site that is easier to read than the governments in regard to the subject of visas! :)

Here is my question(s). I am currently in Canada on a visitor Visa. My wife is a citizen (dual US and Canada). She has been working here since Feb of 2009. We have a baby on the way, and I am trying to find a way to work in Canada to help support our growing family. I am a US citizen.

When I first got here, I had tried finding a job that would sponsor a foreign worker with little success. Is there any way, given my situation, I can get an open work permit on my own?

I have a finance degree from the US. My wife is a Canadian citizen. We are both here and I just want to be able to provide for my family without leaving them and having to go back to the US by myself.

From the information supplied, the only means by which you would likely be eligible to seek an open work permit would be following the approval-in-principle of an inland spousal sponsorship application.
