I am from ireland and currently half way through my 1 year work visa and would like to know how i could go about getting another visa or getting my current visa extended as I would really like to stay here.

In most cases, youth program visas are not eligible for extension. If that applies to you, then you would need a Labour Market Opinion Confirmation prior to being able to seek a new work permit or change of terms.
