Hello, I have had a Common Law Partner in Canada for the past 3 years and a 7-month-old daughter who also is Canadian. They both live in Ontario. I am a US citizen and trying to become a permanent resident in Canada. Does any one know how I could go about this process? Thank you for you help in Advance.

A sponsorship application (inland or abroad depending on your circumstances) in the Family Class is the natural approach to your case. However, if you are not residing together with your partner, you may not be considered common-law and may have to consider the conjugal-partner approach.

You may also evaluate yourself in the skilled worker program and take this approach if it simplifies matters.
