I am a U.S. citizen with an employment opportunity in Canada as a skilled worker (Carpenter). Is this position eligible for receiving a work permit? If so what documentation is necessary to apply for the permit? Is there any other way to work in Canada without a work permit such as temporary residency?

This occupation will be eligible for a work permit if the employer obtains a positive labour market opinion from Service Canada. The only other provisions which would allow you to work in Canada in this occupation would be to obtain permanent resident status.
