Temporary Visa

Postby tigerlily on Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:25 pm

I have a Finnish passport and a U.S permanent resident card. The company i work for is american and they have a short term position for me in Canada. However the HR department are saying they are having trouble getting me a temporary work visa due to my Finnish passport (which is current). Why is this? I was really hoping i'd be able to go. I was supposed to work from mid April until end of October in Canada. Any help would e greatly appreciated! =0)

Your passport - in itself - should not be a hinderance to getting the work permit. It is possible that the HR department is familiar only with the provisions of NAFTA, which would preclude your eligibility as you are not a citizen of a party nation.
