Taking a holiday abroad whilst on a work visa.

Postby Jared on Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:25 pm

I am on a 6 month work visa and would like to travel abroad before I return back to my native country.
At the bottom of my work permit it says "This does not authorize re-entry" does this mean I am not allowed to leave Canada during my six month work visa, without losing the right to work here?
Or does it mean something else?
There are 4 conditions to my visa above: "This does not authorize re-entry" none of which state not leaving the country.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The 'does not authorise re-entry' statement on a work permit refers to the fact that a work permit is not an entry-visa. To re-enter Canada, the holder of the work permit must ensure that they have an entry visa that permits this or that they are entry-visa exempt.

What is your nationality? Did you need an entry visa (i.e., aside from the work permit) to travel to Canada?
