study under workpermit

Postby ramanathankm on Wed Nov 23, 2005 3:01 pm

I'm right now in work permit and i came to Toronto, canada on January, 2005.
I have two questions in my mind to ask you, and they are as follows:
1) If i apply for Permanent Resident here in canada, how long will it take. Will my work experience here in canada will be considered (Its almost a year).
2) I m planning to take CA Foundation course here in Toronto. Can i able to do part time studies? Or we need to take a Study Permit?

Please reply me back as i'm desperately looking for this options.

In response to your questions:

1. Assuming that you apply in the USA, which is responsible for the jurisdiction of applicants resident in Canada, you can expect delays of between 10 and 16 months on average depending on the requirement of an interview.

2. As a general rule, a study permit would be required to engage in any academic study in Canada.
