Spending time in Canada before application approved

Postby falle_sv on Tue Jul 31, 2007 6:46 pm

Hi

I have submitted my work permit application almost four weeks ago now. I have a job offer from a Canadian company, so everything should be ok, I'm counting on getting the work permit.

Now, I have been asked to spend some time in this office, the Canadian branch office (which is a Canadian company by itself) by my current employer in Sweden (I'm Swedish citizen and resident), even before getting the work permit. This is something I and others from the Swedish office have done now and then - spent one to three weeks in the Canadian office (payed and employed by the Swedish company). Would it be any problems for me to

1) Enter Canada for let's say a period of two-three weeks
2) Leave and possible re-enter Canada

all before my work permit is approved? Could I be refused to enter Canada at any time? Could this have any (negative) effect on my on-going work permit application?

Thanks for all answers

Certainly, anyone can be refused admission to Canada as a visitor or business visitor. This would be based on an immigration official's subjective assessment of the intentions of the candidate. A refusal of admission to Canada can have a bearing on subsequent efforts to enter.
