Smooth transition for intercompany transfer?

Postby planejayne on Fri Sep 15, 2006 8:48 pm

My fiance is Canadian and going through a divorce. I am a US Citizen and work for an airline in the US and want to transfer to a Canadian airport but my company won't sponsor me (for legal reasons). They want to hire me in Canada when I am legal to work, the sooner the better.
Do I have to wait until we are married, and he can sponsor me for PR, before I can apply for a work permit?
Can I move my family to Canada and commute to the US to work until all is approved?
How long after we submit the paperwork for PR can I legally be able to work?
What is the process and how long will it all take?
What do I need to qualify for intercompany transfer and thus permit at the border?

This is harder than I thought. Any help/hope would be appreciated.
