skilled worker visa

Postby fftb on Fri Feb 10, 2006 12:30 pm

Hello! I need an opinion, please.

I am pharmacist with Diploma with 6 moths of experience from Russia.
I wanted to apply for Skilled Worker Visa to work in Canada. My questions are.

1)Can I, after obtaining Skilled worker visa, and working in Canada for 6 moths, go back to Russia for a week and then come back to Canada without loosing my visa?

2)Can I, being in CAnada on Skilled Worker Visa basis, visit USA for a week to see my friends?

3)what are all the fees I gotta pay? I counted it's about 2000 dollars. Am I right?

4)How long can I be on Skilled work visa basis? I am asking coz I know that if you have a work permit, than after some time you gotta leave canada without a right of extension.

Thank you so much in advance. And thanks for a great site!!!

The skilled worker category is class of permanent resident visa, whereas you may in fact be referring to a temporary work permit. Assuming that:

1. You are free to leave Canada at any time while holding a work permit. Your return would be suject to the validity of a visitor visa. If this is your plan, you should seek a multiple entry visa.

2. Same as above, although the return from the USA after a short trip is permitted on a single entry visa.

3. The government fee for a temporary work permit is CAD$150.

4. The usual validity is one year; in some cases this can be extended from within Canada.

BUt will I LOOSE my work permit? Or I still can come back a week later and continue working?

Can I after 1 year of stay in Canada apply for canadian citizenship?

The work permit remains valid until the originally stated expiration date.
