Several questions

Postby ehenderson on Sat Jul 21, 2007 10:53 am

I have several questions regarding an application for a Canadian work permit. I have been offered a position as a postdoctoral trainee at a Canadian university starting in September 2007. I will be accompanied by my wife and our newborn child.

My questions are:

1) Do I need to submit my passport along with the application?

2) Do I need to submit the passports of my dependents along with the application?

3) My son does not yet have a passport. He is six weeks old and we haven't yet had a chance to obtain a passport for him. Do I need to wait until we have his passport in hand in order to apply for the work permit or can we submit his birth certificate instead?

4) Is the processing fee $150 per person listed on the application or per application? In other words, would my application fee be $450 or $150?

Thanks very much,

Original passports of any candidate seeking temporary admission would be required if such individuals are not exempt from the requirement of a passport visa. These may be submitted with the application or upon request. A birth certificate is sufficient for travel to Canada (other than by commercial air carrier) if the individual is exempt from the passport visa requirement.

The $150 fee is applicable to all candidates seeking a work permit. The fee of a single entry visitor visa is otherwise $75.
