Hi,

I am working in Canada on Work permit and my work permit is going to expire on End of Nov 2009. I already applied for the extension of work permit but I did not received my acknowledgement and i am not hoping it till Nov End. My question is, I am travelling to India on 2nd week of December, So can i go back to my home country on December as my visa is going to expire on Nov end.Second question is, Can I stay in Canada after my visa expire till my travel to India as i did not get my acknowledgement. Third question is, If i want to come back do i need to apply again for work permit and will it create wrong impression to my future travel to Canada.
Please suggest me as I am very confuse.

Following an inland application for renewal of a work permit filed prior to the expiration of such, your immigration status in Canada remains intact until such time as the decision is rendered. This applies so long as you remain in Canada and departure may invalidate such status and possibility the renewal application. In the case of such departure, it may in fact be necessary to seek a new work permit in order to be eligible to return and resume work in Canada.
