refusal of lmo

Postby dish911 on Wed Apr 25, 2007 12:09 am

Hi,
I am currently working as a technician on a work permit that is going to expire on may 31st, 2007.

I got my initial post graduate work permit from may 2005 to may 2006.Thereafter my employer did a 'labor market opinion' and got me my second extension for the work permit which is valid from may 2006 to may 31st, 2007.

I have already applied for my PR (permanent residency) back in 2005.
Recently they approved my application and went for medicals two weeks ago.

Three weeks ago we did the labor market opinion form again and this time they gave me a negative opinion.

What options do I have to extend my work permit at this time?
Could my employer tell my situation to HR people, which is that, I am going to be permanent resident in another 2.5 months and whether they could make an exception.

Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Pending PR status is not a grounds for granting an LMO or extension unfortunately. Your employer may seek reconsideration of the refused application or submit a new application with adequaet supporting materials in order to seek a positive LMO and extension of the work permit while the PR case concludes.
