Ramifications for employer

Postby naomi manoy on Mon Jul 11, 2011 4:11 pm

Sir:
I am a child care provider. My employer is a Canadian who now resides in the Cayman Islands. I used to have a WX-1 Worker visa which expired June 10, 2011. It was specially annotated "travelling with employer". I was not able to use that visa because they did not travel to Canada before it expired. I want to renew the visa to be able to accompany my employer and his family in their August vacation . However, I have the intention to remain in Canada after the family would have returned to Cayman Islands. And I also plan to find a job as child caregiver in Toronto. My employer knows of this plan as I am due for rollover in Cayman Islands.

What is the ramifications of this to my employer? Would this put him in jeopardy with the Canadian immigration/police? Can I be permitted to stay in Canada even when my employer has gone? or would the WX-1 worker visa allow me to work for a new employer in Canada if my former employer grants me release?

These are questions that I need resolved because I need my employer to give me reference letter to the Canada High Commission for the renewal of my visa.

I would appreciate your reply.

Thanks so much.
