Question on LMO

Postby karlr on Wed Mar 03, 2010 1:27 am

Hey,

This is kind of a broad question that cant really be awnsered properly...but i was just wondering if i could get a general awnser..

At the moment i am in canada on a one year open permit, which is a pilot program with my country(as far as i know this can under no circumstances be extended).
At the end of this month i'll be starting a job with a mining company in a town up north.
I will be working with them untill my visa is up in september and am hoping the company will wish to sponser me for a work permit.

Ive read up on LMO"s and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the chances are of my LMO being positive?

I know this is very difficult to say,but i have heard many different awnsers-such as only people with alot of experience in a highly skilled field being approved, but then i have heard other situations such as people in no skilled fields being aproved..

I mean to say,can anyone tell me how slim my chances are of getting a positive LMO?

Thanks very much for any help,i know its a bit of a stupid question that cant be awnsered properly, but its just something that i worry about,as its tought to not know weither or not i'll be in the county next year :S

thanks alot!!

The general answer is that the LMO approval is viable so long as it can be demonstrated that Canadians were not otherwise available for the position. The employer would therefore need to be able to demonstrate a sufficient recruiting effort; if they do so, the case should be viable.
