PR Visa Enquiry [urgent please!]

Postby Tiger on Thu Sep 28, 2006 1:07 am

Hello,

This is my first visit to this website so I look forward to receiving your suggestions and helps.
I was nominated provincially (PNP) for PR of Canada in Oct 2005. In Oct 26 2005, my application was started and in November 27,2005 I took medical tests and results was sent to Buffalo Office in January 2006. Since then I have been waiting for background check.

CIC responded to my enquiry e-mail of my status as : "We have requested background information from Canadian Office(s) and we cannot provide you with status of your application before this arives.". I am citizen of Iran and was exempted from military service, and never been to any other countries more than 6 months.

I was wondering if you might have any insight on whether this delay is typical or not. Medicals seem to expire in 1 year and my 2nd year Post-Graduation work permit will expire in January 2007. Do you know what will happen to me if I dont hear from CIC by that time?

I really appreciate any feedbacks and suggestions.
Best regards,
Tiger

Background clearances from certain countries are notorious for creating this sort of delay. You may try contacting CSIS, who may be able to provide slightly more insight into progress of the clearance. If medical exam validity expires, the immigration officials have the option of extending them or requesting new medicals.
