PR question

Hello,

I plan to emigrate to Canada sometime next year but have ran into a brick wall, I have 3 years of managerial experience yet the company I worked for will not provide me with any information as to my duties or absenteeism and punctuality (I was never late and had one sick day in 3 years), they say this is due to 'Company Policy', and to make matters worse they have just been bought out by a rival company.

It says on the CIC Checklist for skilled emigration that if you don't have a letter of reference from your employer write a letter explaining why. I will obviously write the letter but I can't see me getting in because of the failings of my previous company, any ideas on this would be great
