PR Application (Federal Skilled Worker Class)

Postby iNcOgNiTo on Tue Jun 21, 2005 8:46 pm

Hi David,

I recently received my work permit extention. I'm now on my 2nd year Post-Grad work permit. I am applying for my Permanent Resident status under the Federal Skilled Worker Class. My questions are as follows:

1. Do I still need an HRSDC conformation (Labour Market Opinion) or do I only need the Arranged Employment Application for Skilled Workers (Arranged Employment Opinion)? I do have a permanent job offer from the company I'm currently working for.

2. On the Arranged Employment Application form, the first question is as follows:
"Do you intend to employ the skilled worker before he becomes a permanent resident?" YES or NO. But it also states that "if YES, you are not completing the correct form- please complete the Application for Labour Market Opinion form".

Does this apply to my situation? If no, how/where do I explain that I am already working on a Worker Visa and am on my 2nd year Post Grad Work term?

3. Also typically, how long does it take for the Arranged Employment Application to be processed?

4.I was informed that the Skilled Worker Application with an Arranged Employment approval takes faster to be processed. Is this true?
If the overall application process goes beyond my current Work Permit (June 7th 2006), can I apply for an extention based on the fact that my PR application is being processed?

Thank you very much.

1. In the context of a permanent resident application, you would require the Arranged Employment Opinion.

2. This question is not well suited to your situation. The most expedient approach would likely be to state "No" and to include an appendix with an explanation.

3. On average, 30-45 days.

4. The likelihood of an interview waiver may be higher in such a case. Other than this, the case is not faster than comparable cases processed at the same visa office.
