PR Advice

Postby rajat on Wed Dec 28, 2005 2:43 am

Hello,
This is my first post.
I wish to immigrate to canada but the only way i can is thru a study permit.
I chose a 16 month masters progrm at u of ottawa.

>> For what period will i be issued a work permit.
>> when shud i apply for a PR
>> what if my work permit is about to expire and i still dont have any confirmation of my PR status in case i applied it earlier.

Plz show some way so that i cud stay in canada and work while my PR application is in process.

Thanks,
Rajat

Following the completion of your present education, you may seek a work permit of up to 16 months. You can apply for PR status at any time (assuming that you have at least one year of eligible work experience), but it would be necessary for your to determine when and if you meet the requirements for sufficient scoring.

If a temporary work permit is not valid for long enough to allow for conclusion of a PR application, you would have to apply for extension, which could entail an application for HRSDC Confirmation.
