Post grad work permit and PR

Postby ankitj2 on Sun Dec 16, 2007 9:47 pm

I entered Canada in August 2003 as an International student and applied for permanent residence in 2006. The Buffalo office started processing my case on July 24, 2006.
I graduated in April and started looking for employment immediately to get the
Graduate Work Permit. I finally got an offer and am currently on a Post Grad work permit valid till July 19, 2008. Now here is my question. I was told, and have also seen cases where your PR application really speedens up if you send a copy of your work permit to the Buffalo office.
However, does this theory apply to the Post Grad work permit since they no longer require Labor Marker Opinions or HR approval?
Secondly, my parents were not interested in coming to Canada but after awhile they applied separately through India (where they reside) for PR in Canada. Does me becoming a Permanent Resident faster in any way increase or speeden their PR processing even though our applications are separate?
