Permanent Resident after studying, please help!!

Postby cbengineering on Mon Nov 13, 2006 1:42 pm

Hi

I'm new to this site and new to the process of Canadaian immigration. I've got some questions about getting PR after studying and hope someone can give me some advice!!

Here's my situation. I have no skills or post secondary education but want to find a way to immigrate to Canada permanently. I am considering studying a 12 month certificate course as a diesel mechanic at Vancouver Community College and then applying for a one year post graduate work permit. After this I hope to use my Canadian qualification and work experience to let me stay in Canada permanently.

My questions are;

Is it possible for me to get PR in this way?

Also, if this is possible, would I be able to remain in Canada and work whilst I was going through the process of getting my PR?

Cheers,
Charlie

Without knowing all the details of your qualifications, experience, language abilities, etc., it is not possible to determine eligibility for a permanent resident application. Certainly the approach that you describe is viable if you have sufficient points otherwise.
