Hi. I need some advise on the work permit application. I have applied to Canadian Work Permit through Buffalo Center on May 11th. Also my common-law spouse applied to open spousal work permit in the same file. I am a Turkish citizen living in US (with student visa) and my spouse is American citizen.

Before I sent my application, I wasn't sure if I should include the original copy of my passport and couldn't find any information about it. So I asked the immigration center of the university that hired me, and they advised me to include copies of my passport and other immigration documents. After I sent my application, I noticed I should have included the originals.

Classes are about the start and we don't have much time. If they return our application and we apply again (in the middle of July), we will be very late to start our jobs. What should I do now? Should I send another application, should I send passports only, or just wait? Please advise. Thank you!

Just wanted to update... I recieved a letter today stating that "processing of your application is almost complete. The next stage requires your passport". We will go to Buffalo and have our passports stamped. I took exactly 30 days to receive this letter.

If I had submitted our original passports, it would have been complete now. But this worked out better. Because I live in US with student visa and have to carry my passport when I travel (which I did a lot in the last month and had pulled over once. It was nice to have my passport with me when that happened.)
