Open Work Permit for spouse of Resident

Postby aks_global on Tue Jul 31, 2007 3:56 pm

Hi,

If a person of foreign citizenship is married to a Canadian Resident, can he / she apply for an open work permit? What happens if the spouse is a Canadian Citizen?

I am surprised looking at some of the other posts that spouses of Canadian Residents are struggling to get fresh work permit for changing job.

Can u please help clarify this as I might be getting married to a Canadian resident soon.

Best Regards.

An open work permit can only be sought for the spouse of a Canadian in the context of an inland sponsorship application. In such a case, eligibility follows Approval-in-Principle.
