Open Work Permit Clarification

Postby sheth_pranav on Wed Feb 01, 2012 5:20 am

Hello,

I have 2 questions on open work permit. My wife has travelled to Canada for ICT (1.5 years). Is there a way online to determine whether I am eligible for open work permit. How do I know if her job falls in the category mentioned.
In addition, I also wanted to ask, if she comes back for some time to India while her work permit is active, am I allowed to stay and work in Canada (open work permit) while she is away?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

If the work that she does is classified as high skill (NOC 0, A, or B), then the information provided suggests that you would be eligible for an open work permit. During the validity of such a permit, you would not be obliged to depart Canada if you wife departs.

Thanks for the quick reply, however is there a way to determine her skill type?
Also, can I travel to Canada on dependent visa and convert it to Open Work Permit staying there?
