Open Work Permit

Postby Calcanada on Fri Jul 15, 2011 12:18 pm

Hello David,

I have a work permit which states the employer name on it and I am eligible to work with that employer.I am working with this employer for an year now.

Can I switch the employers? If yes then can the new employer file for newer-OPEN work permit and LMO?How much is the processing time for the same? - Once the application is being sent to CPC then Can I start working for this new employer?

When the new work permit application/LMO is being filed should I stop working at the current employer ? - Or I can continue working with them.?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have spent a continuous year working in Canada- Can I apply for PR card?

You may switch employers at such time as you are granted a new work permit specific to that employer (i.e., not when the case is submitted), and may continue to work with the old employer during such time. You should expect such a new work permit to be specific to the new employer, and not an open work permit.
