Hi,

I am an IT professional in Canada on a work permit (intra company transfer) and was recently laid-off. My work permit is valid till Jan 2012, and am wonder what options are available to me to get back into the job market, as to date I have not had any success and based on feedback, employers are reluctant to consider my application because of the work permit/LMO implications.

My wife has permanent employment and is on an open work permit. We are also planning to apply for PR under the Canadian Experience Class.

Has anyone been in a similar position? Is it possible to have a work permit opened?
