Married but apart ...

Postby RiRi on Wed Jan 10, 2007 1:20 am

I am a U.S. citizen and I just married a Canadian (from Toronto) in Oct. 2006. We've had a long distance relationship for about 9 years. After we got married I stayed with him for about a month or so but now I'm back home with my parents. We had to wait 3 months to get our marriage certificate, we'll be getting it shortly. Hopefully by next month we can get the PR Sponsorship application filled out and sent out.

Basically, I want to be with my husband. Whats best for me to do right now? Should I sit put and just suffer until I get approved for my PR? What other ways are there for me to go up there right now to be with him?

Also, is it true that the processing time for my PR application will be quicker if my husband is sponsoring me as an outside sponsorship?

Well, if anyone could answer my questions and help me out I'd be so grateful.

Thanks
RiRi

Until your PR application is concluded, the only other option is to seek temporary resident status. This would include seeking admission as a visitor, a foreign student, or a foreign worker.
