LMO/Work Permit application by a Non-Canadian Company

Postby foruaks on Tue May 10, 2011 7:27 pm

I have been working on a work permit as a Software Consultant in Canada for almost an year. I am working for an American Software Consulting firm having office in US and India. However, my company is not having an office in Canada. I work for a Canadian Client. My work permit expires in September 2011. However, the rules being changed now, I just wanted to know the chances of getting my work permit renewed. I heard that IT professionals will now have to go through LMO process, and my company being a non-Canadian company, I am more concerned if they are in a position to renew my work permit. My question is that is it possible to get a positive LMO by a non-Canadian employer? If not, then what all things are required to get a more positive work permit.

Foreign companies can process LMO applications. In most such cases, supporting documentation from the Canadian beneficiary of the services would be required.
