I have been looking for a Computer Science job in Vancouver. I am currently interviewing for a 3 to 6 month contract position (with the possible opportunity of full time employment afterwoods).

Does a short term contract position still enable me to apply for a work visa? Would the work permit be an valid for a year - or would it be restricted to the length of time of the contract?

A contract position would be eligible for a work permit. The work permit cannot be issued for a duration longer than the contract.
