Is Dependant Visa eligible for work Permit?

Postby pravee on Mon Mar 22, 2010 9:42 am

Hi,

I am holding V-1 Visitor Visa and i would like to apply for the work permit. My husband is an IT professional and he is working in Montreal, Canada. We both are from India. And i am not having experience in any field. My husband is having the work permit with a validity for more than a year. We are in Montreal (Canada) now.

My questions are:

1. Is Visitor Visa and Dependant Visa are one and the same?

2. Am I eligible to apply for an Open Work Permit?

3. What documents I need to submit for applying the Work Permit?

4. How long is the processing time for getting the Work Permit?

5. How much it will cost for applying the Work Permit?

6. To apply for the work permit, whether I need to change my Visa Type?

7. Can I apply for the work permit from inside Canada?

Kindly reply to this, if anyone knows. Waiting for your reply for further processing.

Thanks in advance,
Praveena.

Please refer to the work visa forum guidelines.

To try to summarily respond to your basic question, it would appear that you would be eligible for an open work permit if your spouse possesses a work permit of greater than 6 months.
