Intra-company transferee

Postby Spugna on Tue Jun 07, 2011 9:00 am

Hello everybody,

My husband and I would like to move to Canada with our 2 daughters (4 and 6 year old now) next Summer. He has been working for Volkswagen Group in Switzerland as an automotive service technician for 3,5 years. Is an intra-company transferee possible? If yes, how long would it take to obtain a wp? Has someone experience with that? Thank you for every information you can give me!

If the Canadian government can be satisfied that the position requirements constitute specialized knowledge, then an intra-company transfer is viable. Such a case could be processed in as little as one day at a port of entry, or within approximately 6 weeks at the visa office in your region. If the position requirements do not constitute specialized knowledge, then a Labour Market Opinion will be needed in order to be able to work in Canada.

Thank you very much for your answer! He has a degree as automotive service technician. He made a 4 year aprentiship and he has been working for more or less 11 years after that. Is that what you mean with knowledge?

Academic credentials and training are not the sole determinant of specialized knowledge. However, from the information supplied, I would expect that the case would be subject to the requirement of a Labour Market Opinion and would not qualify as an intra-company transfer.

Hello everybody,

I gave birth in Canada in mid 2010 through a tourist visa and return to my home country. However, my company will be transferring me to our Toronto office through Intra-company transfers. The visa officer is questioning why I gave birth in Canada. Could this be a reason for them to deny my application? I have provided them all the hospital bills payment to support that I paid my bills.

I really do appreciate if you could give me your opinion and your advise on the above.

Kind regards,

Pat

In addition to eligibility for a work permit, the officer must asses the admissibility of a candidate as a temporary resident. The questions may be intended to determine the intent to depart Canada in the case of the expiration of any temporary status granted.
