Intra-Company Transfer: Sth Africa to Canada

Postby LAllen on Tue Nov 16, 2010 12:58 pm

Hi,

Hope that someone could point me in the right direction and would appreciate any advice.

IT company from South Africa has just opened it's North American operations in Vancouver. MD has just been given his work visa with his family and they've moved over, and he's currently the only employee. Company sells software and has distribution agreements with a few software companies in North America, including a very large international company that is based in both Canada and the US.

I'm the lead trainer for the company, and the MD would like me to move across to Canada to help train the new install bases, business partners etc. I've been with the company 2.5 yrs now, unmarried and hold an Australian passport, no criminal record etc.

Would this situation give me a good shot at obtaining an intra-company transfer visa?

Again, I'd appreciate any assistance.

If a sufficient argument for specialized knowledge can be made, then this may be a viable intra-company transfer case. The bigger hurdle may be supplying satisfactory evidence of a substantive business operation in Canada to permit for a second foreign worker.
